JANUARY NEWS
Thank you to all students and parents who participated in the holiday activities. The Shop Clintonville event was a huge success and the shop owners were grateful for the music provided. The Christmas parties at the studio provided students an opportunity to play for their parents and each other. As we start the new year, there are many other activities and events for students to prepare for. Please read the newsletter carefully and mark your calendars.
GUILD AUDITION REGISTRATION
I am currently working on getting students registered for Guild Auditions which take place in May. This is a non-competitive evaluation of the student’s performance of a program of memorized pieces, scales and chords. Students choose the number of pieces they perform in their program. The fee for participation depends on the number of pieces and averages around $25.00. This fee would come out of your studio music and activity fee. I will receive a date for the auditions after I send in the registration. Deadline for registration is January 16th. Please indicate below if you are interested and return to me by January 16th.
FEBRUARY 7, 1:00 p.m. - STUDIO CLASS
This studio class will provide students an opportunity to try out their pieces before performing in the recital. Students are strongly encouraged to attend.
FEBRUARY 21 - OMEA CONTEST FOR PARTICIPATING HIGH SCHOOL
STUDENTS
FEBRAURY 22, 2:00 p.m. - STUDIO RECITAL
The annual studio recital will be on Sunday, February 22 at 2:00 p.m. at Clinton Heights Lutheran Church. The church is on High Street one block south of North Broadway at the SE Corner of High St. and Clinton Heights. Family and friends are invited to attend.
FEBRAURY 28 - OMTA DISTRICT FESTIVAL AT CAPITAL
UNIVERSITY
This event, sponsored by the Ohio Music Teachers Association, gives students the opportunity to perform in a recital setting with students of other teachers. Students benefit from this non-competitive performance opportunity by receiving judge’s comments and a certificate of participation. The recitals last approximately one hour and students can request the time of their recital. The fee for participation is $10.00 and would come out of your studio music and activity fee. Please indicate below if you would like to participate in this event. The registration deadline is January 26th.
