Please read this newsletter carefully as there is much important information about the summer schedule and upcoming student events.
SUMMER SCHEDULE
As stated in the studio policies, students are expected to
continue with lessons through the summer.
Each student will receive ten lessons during the months of June,
July and August. This includes
lessons received during those months while school is in session. Tuition payment for summer lessons is due on
June 1st and July 15. The amount for
these two payments is in your tuition coupon book. Please fill out the lesson time request
form below and return it or email me as soon as possible.
I will be on vacation June 14-20. The summer schedule will begin June 21st.
CHILDREN PLAYING FOR CHILDREN
The Central East District of the Ohio Music Teachers
Association is sponsoring a Play-a-thon to benefit the Early Intervention and
Early Childhood Development Program at Children’s Hospital. Over the summer, students will have the
opportunity to collect pledges and then perform in a day-long celebratory
concert at the Mall at Tuttle Crossing.
Although solicitation of pledges is not required to perform, all
registered students pay a $15 entry fee.
T-shirts will be given to all participating students and prizes will be
awarded to those raising the most money.
The day-long concert will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2004 and will
run from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Students only need to be there during their assigned performance
time. Please find enclosed a Play-a-thon
Pledge Sheet for each student to use to collect pledges. 100% of the collected pledges will be given
to Children’s Hospital. Please indicate below if you are interested in
participating in this program. I must receive the $15 registration fee
before the registration deadline which is July 1, 2004.
SCALE OLYMPICS
Another event sponsored by OMTA is Scale Olympics. This event does not take place until Saturday, December 4, 2004, but the preparation needs to begin this summer. This is a non-competitive event where students have the opportunity to be judged on their performance of required technical skills such as scales, arpeggios, chords, sightreading, transposition, harmonization and theory. Students can enter as many of the eight events as they want and are awarded a ribbon for each event. This is an enjoyable event and I especially recommend the early level students participate in it. The concentrated practice of these necessary skills will help to accelerate their progress. Please indicate below if you would like to participate.
STUDENT NEWS
The following students are participating in Guild Auditions this month: Richie Blocher, Jamie Brew, CJ Botti, Carolyn Botti, Nathaniel Maier, Rebecca Morton, Sam Page, Tristan Stempfer, Kyler Morgan, Michael Qi and Abbe Kaplan.
Sam Page was awarded a scholarship for summer music study from the Ohio Music Teachers Association. He will be using the scholarship to attend the Summer Music Camp at Bowling Green State University. Kyle McMahon will be attending the Berklee Summer Guitar Session.
